Food stocks are currently reasonable, but we anticipate increasing demand. We would like to encourage our regular donors to keep donating. Specific items we need and those we are well stocked with are on our website – Dunstable.foodbank.org.uk.
The main challenge to maintaining our operations will come from shortage of volunteers. Many of our volunteers are over 70. The exact terms of the government’s advice to over 70s are awaited, but we anticipate many of our regular volunteers may not be available over the coming weeks.
We am drawing up a list of additional volunteers who could help keep us operational. We may need help in our warehouse outside Leighton Buzzard, with van runs to collect and distribute food to our Distribution Centres and in the Distribution Centres to hand out food. Volunteers would need to be free of any sign of infection and would need their own transport.
