Newsletter December 2017, including Christmas opening times

25th December 2017

Hi Everybody

Here is our final newsletter of the year.

Firstly, many thanks to you all for your support and continued donations throughout 2017.

We have had many generous donations in the run up to Christmas. A number of Firms and Schools hold regular Christmas collections for us. Several families and organisations have done reverse Advent Calendars and the Cast and Crew of Sleeping Beauty at the Grove Theatre made a collection for us instead of giving each other their customary presents.

Our current stock level is 8,592kg – with more to be checked in from the Christmas donations. This sounds a lot – but we do on average distribute 2,700kg each month. We expect a high level of demand over the Christmas / New Year period but the stocks we build up between Harvest and New Year should keep us going well into 2018. Despite this we still depend mainly on the regular donations to our Supermarket boxes / Churches and other collection points – so please do keep these coming in.

Tesco Collection

Many thanks to the volunteers who helped with our collection at Tesco from Thurs 30th November to Saturday 2nd December. Particular thanks to those from Ringway Jacobs who braved the Arctic conditions on the Thursday. Over the whole 3 days we collected 2368 kg food and £223.16 cash.

Distribution centre opening times over Christmas and New Year.

The distribution centres will be open as normal except:

Christmas Day and New Year’s Day – New Life will be closed

Boxing Day Tuesday 26th December – The Way will be closed.

If there is a genuine food emergency over the holiday period when the distribution centres are closed, please contact me on 07874200056.
The Foodbank team would like to thank you all for your support and donations in 2017 and to wish you a very Happy Christmas.

Mike Pittam
